History
For over a century, Đuro Đaković has been at the forefront of engineering innovation. From our humble beginnings in 1921 to becoming a company with over 100 years of experience today, we have built a legacy of excellence that spans generations.
1921 – 1940
February 17, 1921
The first Yugoslav factory of wagons, machines and bridges d.d. „Brod na Savi“ was founded.
The founders were:
- First Croatian Savings Bank
- Slavonija d.d. – wood industry
- Slavonian Coal Trading Company Kauffman and co.
- Factory for machinery and railway equipment Kistarcs
- Bank of Yugoslavia in Osijek
1921
The construction of factory buildings began in May.
1922
The factory started the production and repair of railway wagons in June and already year after that employed 1200 workers.
1941 – 1960
1947
After being significantly damaged in the 2nd world war, company changed name for the first time in to “Đuro Đaković” Industry of locomotives, machines, and bridges Slavonski Brod.
1952
In 1952, a contract was concluded with Babcock Wilcox for business and technical cooperation, and in 1955, the first 20 HP diesel locomotive was produced.
1952 – 1955
In the period of 1952/53, a total of 208 locomotives were manufactured from the existing program to meet the needs of the domestic railway.
1983 – 1995
1983
ĐĐ Special Vehicles begins serial production of the M-84 tank
1991 – 1995
Đuro Đaković company made a significant contribution to the Croatian War of Independence from 1991 to 1995 through the development, production, and supply of weapons, tools, and ammunition for the needs of the Croatian military.
After 1995
After 1995, projects from previous periods were successfully continued, and new ones were initiated: specialized freight wagons for specific purposes according to the latest European standards, armored fighting vehicles, production of various pressure vessels, reactors, columns, and similar products, production of components for wind power plants and more.
New business collaborations were established with world leaders, such as the Finnish company Patria and the Norwegian industrial group Kongsberg.
2022 – Today
2022
In September 2022 Czech company DD ACQUISITION a.s. (founded by CE Industries and Promet Group) became majority owner (81,90%) of Đuro Đaković Group and its subsidiaries.
Today, the Đuro Đaković Group is finding answers and solutions to modern challenges through its business areas – defense, transport, machining, and energy.
