The wagon is intended for transportation of different types of railway sleepers during railroad maintenance. The sleepers are loaded and unloaded by a specific gantry crane. For this purpose, the wagon is fitted with longitudinal rails that enable the gantry crane to move alongside the wagons in a composition. Connecting of rails on separate wagons into one rail system for the crane is achieved by a removable transition rail. The wagon is equipped with additional crane anti-derailment protection.

The sleepers are loaded transversely, on a wood-covered supports. Fixed end pillars and fordable central pillars are preventing the sleepers from movement during transport. To additionally fasten the sleepers, the wagon is equipped with belt tension equipment. Since wooden beams are usually placed on top of every row of sleepers when the wagon is loaded, wooden beam lashing and movement protection features are implemented, to transport additional wooden beams safely when the wagon is not loaded. The wagon has ability to accept additional rail holding equipment on the wagon.

With its design, manufacture and equipment, the wagon meets the existing TSI, EN, UIC and GCU.
